Ken Block’s HOONITRUCK SOLD

Ken Block’s HOONITRUCK SOLD – LBI Limited is PUMPED to offer Ken Block’s 1977 Ford F-150 Hoonitruck in yet another unveiling of EPIC proportions from Ken Block’s personal collection. The Hoonitruck has garnered over 75 Million YouTube® views by drifting through Gymkhana TEN and defying death in Climbkhana TWO by hooning its way up the world’s most dangerous mountain highway. Its tire smoke-induced antics have even landed it on Amazon’s Emmy Nominated series, The Gymkhana Files. This one-off unicorn masterfully blends a classic utilitarian icon with the pinnacle of modern racing technology. Under the hood sits a prototype 3.5L Ford Performance/Roush Yates EcoBoost V6 engine lifted directly from the Ford GT Le Mans program. For the first time ever, the baddest truck from the master of hoon can be yours.

When we created LBI Limited, we had a vision in mind – Offer some of the most beautiful, outrageous, collectible, and historically significant vehicles the world has ever seen. We are constantly on the lookout for vehicles that define what it means to be a gearhead and an overall automotive hoon. The Ken Block Collection was a fantastic way to embody that vision, but we hope you didn’t think we would stop there. With the successful sale of Ken Block’s Ford RS200 and Ford Fiesta “RX43,” we’re STOKED to announce that the Ken Block stable at LBI Limited has a fresh, new addition. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the one, the only, HOONITRUCK.

The Hoonitruck is Ken Block’s 1977 Ford F-150 with a dash of rowdiness. Okay, maybe more than a dash. This monster on wheels was created for the Gymkhana TEN film by Hoonigan Media, where Ken used it to terrorize a stretch of Route 66 that runs through Shamrock, Texas. In case you haven’t seen it yet, let’s just say that there’s never been a video that screams “Classic Americana” more than Ken Block drifting between old Conoco gas pumps and rusty Edsels. It was also the star of Climbkhana TWO where it hooned its way up China’s 5000-foot high Tianmen Mountain highway, which is considered to be the world’s most dangerous mountain highway. If Gymkhana TEN is an example of Classic Americana, then Climbkhana TWO is a death-defying escapade showcasing Ken tempting fate and coming within millimeters of every possible guardrail. In all, its YouTube® escapades have garnered this truck over 75 million views and a spot on Amazon’s Emmy Nominated series, The Gymkhana Files. When it’s not tearing tires from rims it also looks pretty downright awesome, receiving the “Best Dressed” award at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon.  Apart from being an award-winning beast, the Hoonitruck also serves as a tribute to Ken’s late father who had the exact same stock version of the truck back in the day.

Under the hood lives the heart and centerpiece of this creation, a custom-tuned, 3.5 liter, twin-turbocharged, Ford Performance/Roush Yates EcoBoost V6 engine with a billet-aluminum block lifted directly out of the Ford Racing Ford GT Le Mans development program. This is an actual prototype engine that Ford created for their legendary LeMans program. Adding to the insanity is an aluminum intake manifold that was 3D printed by Ford Performance as a one-off piece specifically for the Hoonitruck. At the time, the intake was the largest 3D printed car part in the world and took 150 hours to print! Those six cylinders scream out a mind-boggling 914hp at 7,400 rpm with 702 ft·lb of torque through a Sadev 6-speed all-wheel-drive gearbox. The gearbox is almost identical to its Hooning counterpart, the almighty Hoonicorn of which it can be seen towing in Gymkhana TEN.

The Hoonitruck build reportedly cost in excess of $1.5 million and was carried out by the master technicians at Detroit Speed in Mooresville, NC with overall design and styling dictated by Block and his team at Hoonigan. The F-150 cabin was stripped, repaired, reinforced and then dropped on a custom tube-frame chassis. It was then complemented with hand-hammered military-grade aluminum bodywork emblazoned in Ken’s signature matte black and gray color scheme. The whole thing rides on custom ST/KW suspension with specially created, one-off Fuel Block forged beadlock wheels painted in gloss white, the exact opposite color of the tires it has shredded. The engineering that went into the Hoonitruck is incredible but don’t just take our word for it, here’s Chris Porter of Detroit Speed describing the minute details he and his team put into this truck.

Here’s a quick fun fact from that video. The Hoonitruck’s insane widebody flares bring it to just over 79 inches wide, which makes it near impossible to tow on a standard 80-inch trailer. To overcome this, the absolute geniuses at Detroit Speed made the truck highly modular so that it can be taken apart for transport and rebuilt on-location. This also allows parts to be swapped out quickly or rebuilt in case of an on-site accident. These things sometimes take multiple tries to get perfect, even for an ace driver like Ken.

The interior, of course, looks like a spaceship with its full carbon fiber dash and matching Recaro Profi SPA carbon fiber race seats. Luxuries include FordPass remote start and even a functional backup camera/tow hitch setup. Included in the sale are numerous spare parts such as an extra 3.5L V6 Ford Performance/Roush Yates engine block, steel bodywork, extra wheels, and much more to ensure that your hooning adventures are not interrupted for long by any roadside breakdowns. Who said a 900+hp truck wasn’t a practical vehicle?

The Hoonitruck is both a terrifying and beautiful machine. With the heritage of the legendary Ford GT Le Mans engine, it can rend a set of tires in mere minutes. At the same time, it also serves as an example of what masterful engineering can do to what was once a measly farm truck. It harmoniously blends the world of modern performance with that of old school utilitarian vehicles into a pavement-shredding beast. This is definitely not one for the faint of heart but if constant rushes of adrenaline and the smell of burning rubber is something you desire in your life, look no further. Think of the Hoonitruck as a wild mustang; it’s a creature that must be tamed and treated with care and respect. In return, it will make its driver the bane of paved roads around the world. For the first time ever, the baddest truck from the master of hoon can be yours. *insert drifting and rev limiter noises here*
